Nike Legend IV is Nike’s suggestion for a classic boot, and therefore this boot stays true to the classic virtues of good comfort, excellent ball feel and simple design.

Houston Dynamo 2013 adidas Home and Away Kits

With only five days before the start of the 2013 season, the Houston Dynamo have formally unveiled the jerseys the team will wear for their upcoming campaign. Starting Tuesday, the jerseys will be available for purchase at the adidas Dynamo Team Store at BBVA Compass Stadium.

“Introducing a new uniform is always exciting for a team and its fans,” said Dynamo president Chris Canetti. “We are proud of the new look and how it represents the club. The base concept remains the same, but the new version provides a fresh, new look for the club.”

Although the jerseys were designed to highlight features that represent the club, it was also designed with competition advantages in mind. With no collar and lighter material, the 2013 and 2014 kits will provide an advantage for Dynamo players as they play games during the summer months in Houston.

Along with the Dynamo’s goal to be the most environmentally friendly club in Major League Soccer, the new kits are made from 100% recyclable materials. Other features that will hit home to Dynamo fans are:

• The Texas flag patch sewn on to the front of the jersey
• The Dynamo’s signature Forever Orange slogan on the upper-left hand side of the kit
• The back-neck tape design is inspired by the design of the Dynamo’s stadium, BBVA Compass Stadium

“We wanted to maintain a traditional looking uniform that met the standards of top clubs from around the world,” Canetti added. “We also wanted it to be a stark contrast to our previous uniform. It was important for us to incorporate elements that represent our club and fan base, such as the Forever Orange tag and the Texas flag. Overall, I think we have met our objectives and have a quality new uniform that players and fans will enjoy.”

 

New York Red Bulls 2013 adidas Home Kit

The latest release from adidas, the Red Bulls jersey, does not appear too different from a visual standpoint. adidas have opted to make the greatest changes in the weight and comfort of the new primary kit.  With some of the biggest names in the league, this is sure to be a kit  well represented in the MLS. 

According to adidas project manager Mike Walker, adidas have opted to utilize their newest lightweight material to create a jersey that does not hinder the player in any way. The new material is said to reduce the weight by 27% in comparison to the previous adidas kit. The new lightweight design features heat-bonded seams, which replace all stitching along the hem of the jersey.

2013 Red Bulls Primary Jersey

The combination of sponsor name and club name has always been looked at with some skepticism from soccer die-hards. In the case of Red Bull, they have looked the other way at such skepticism, and now have 5 teams playing around the world under the name Red Bulls. Aaidas has also mentioned that with the creation of this and other Red Bull team kits, they want to maintain a similar layout and color scheme.

The launch party saw the likes of Thierry Henry, Tim Cahill and Dax McCarty showing off the kits in person. A peek into Tim Cahill’s Twitter feed revealed these behind the scenes photos, where the players can be seen wearing the new kits.

Umbro Geometra II Pro

Umbro’s recent release of the Geometra II Pro has unfortunately gone under the radar, but with two new colorways for the control boot, might the England manufacturer be on the way back up?

With the Geometra Pro II, Umbro have used a leather upper – a feature that is becoming more and more rare on many top of the line boots. The leather upper has been treated with a coating, which is highlighted by the pattern that runs along the boot.

The coating is added to ensure extra friction between the boot and the ball. This ‘coating’ reminds us a bit of Nike’s ACC. Could it be that Umbro’s last collaboration with its former owners was an ACC-like substance? We saw a different colourway being worn by Liverpool’s Conor Coady, but other than that particular spot, we have yet to see any players take up the new boot from Umbro.

Like its predecessor, the Geometra Pro II has off centered lacing, which creates a larger strike zone on the medial side of the boot. On the instep of the boot, Umbro have created new “Dampening Control Pads” composed of memory foam to help control and pass the ball. The “dampening control pads” are the biggest feature on the Geometra Pro II and is what makes them a “control boot”.

Umbro’s “A-Frame Support” system has made a comeback on the Geometra Pro II and has been integrated into the boot to provide greater midfoot stability. All in all, the Geometra Pro is looking like a solid release from Umbro, who most had thought were down and out. That being said, it’s an interesting choice of release colourway as most brands choose to go with something flashy in order to advertise the boot when worn on field.

France 2013 Nike Away Kit

The French Football Federation and Nike revealed a new pale blue kit with tricolore detail

Innovation, performance and elegance have become key features of the French Football Federation uniforms since Nike began its partnership with the national team. The new French away kit for 2013 is no exception; an eye-catching pale blue silhouette with tricolore detail.

The distinctive new look is testimony to the ambitions of the new French Football teams, fusing French tradition with style and pride.The shirt has a button collar and the iconic French cockerel crest. Both sleeves have a tricolore motif while another tricolore detail can be found on the right sleeve. The signature “our differences bring us together”, found on the French national team kits since 2011, is printed in the inside of the shirt, just below the collar. The pale blue also adorns the shorts and socks.

The shorts have the tricolore detail on each side, while the top of the socks also sport the famous red, white and blue of the French flag.In line with Nike’s commitment to combining performance with lower environmental impact, fabric for the new kit’s shorts is made with 100 percent recycled polyester, while the shirt fabric is made with a minimum 96 percent recycled polyester. Each kit is made using an average 13 recycled plastic bottles.

The kits are constructed using moisture-wicking Nike Dri-FIT technology: the fabric’s knit structure is 23 percent lighter and 20 percent stronger than Nike’s previous kits. The shirts also feature laser-cut ventilation holes to promote localized cooling, to help regulate player temperatures during a match.The French Female Football Team will be the first to wear the new kit on pitch vs. Brazil on March 9, and the men’s team will follow on March 22 for their qualifying game against Georgia.
